Overview

PDP Description Rows is a block in AppBrew Studio that allows brands to display structured, collapsible product information on the Product Detail Page (PDP). By linking rows directly to metafields, brands can surface rich product data — such as materials, care instructions, sizing details, or custom attributes — in a clean, expandable format without any manual content entry.

What It Does

Description Rows lets brands build a set of collapsible information rows on the PDP, each linked to a metafield. Brands can:

  • Add multiple rows — Each row displays as a collapsible item with a title and optional icon

  • Link to metafields — Each row pulls its content dynamically from a connected Shopify metafield, keeping product information accurate and up to date

  • Choose a collapsible icon style — Select between Chevron or Plus/Minus icons to control how rows expand and collapse

  • Add a start icon — Optionally add an icon at the start of each row to visually distinguish different types of information

How to Set It Up

  1. Navigate to the Products page — Go to the design page in Studio and select the Products page from the page list.

  2. Add the block — Click Add Block and select Description Rows from the block library.

  3. Choose your collapsible icon style — Select either Chevron or Plus/Minus as the expand/collapse icon for all rows in the block.

  4. Add an item — Click the + icon next to Items to create a new row. This opens the item editing panel.

  5. Set a title and start icon — Enter a title for the row (e.g. More details, Care Instructions, Size & Fit). Optionally, click Add start icon to add an icon that appears at the beginning of the row.

  6. Select the content type — Choose the type of content this row will display from the Kind dropdown:

    • Product description — Displays the product's Shopify description

    • Metafield Single Line Text — Displays a single line of text from a connected metafield

    • Metafield Multiline text — Displays multi-line text content from a connected metafield

    • Metafield Rich text — Displays formatted rich text content from a connected metafield

    • Metafield Image — Displays an image from a connected metafield

    • Text — Displays a static text value entered manually

    • Html — Displays custom HTML content

  7. Link to a metafield — For metafield-based content types, click Select a metafield to connect the row to the relevant metafield. The row will automatically pull and display the content from that metafield on the PDP.

  8. Repeat for additional rows — Click + again to add more rows as needed. Each row is configured independently.

  • Size & Fit Information — Display sizing guides or fit notes as a collapsible row, pulling directly from a metafield so updates are reflected in the app automatically.

  • Material & Care Instructions — Surface fabric composition and washing instructions in a dedicated row, giving shoppers the detail they need to make a confident purchase decision.

Beauty & Personal Care

  • Ingredients List — Display a full ingredients breakdown as a collapsible row, ideal for skincare or haircare brands where ingredient transparency is important to customers.

  • How to Use — Add a step-by-step usage guide as a row linked to a metafield, keeping application instructions consistent and easy to find on the PDP.

Home & Decor

  • Product Dimensions — Surface dimensions, weight, or material specifications as collapsible rows so customers can quickly access the details they need without cluttering the main PDP layout.

  • Assembly & Care — Display assembly instructions or maintenance guidelines in a dedicated row, reducing post-purchase support queries.

General Commerce

  • Shipping & Returns — Add a collapsible row for shipping timelines and return policies, making key purchase information accessible directly on the product page.

  • Warranty & Certifications — Surface warranty details or product certifications as a dedicated row, building trust and reducing pre-purchase hesitation.

Each row can be linked to a Shopify metafield, the product description, or populated with static text or HTML. For metafield-based rows, content is pulled automatically from Shopify so any updates are reflected in the app without republishing.

  1. What collapsible icon styles are available?

You can choose between Chevron and Plus/Minus icons. The selected style applies to all rows within the block.

  1. Can I add an icon to each row?

Yes. Each row has an optional Add start icon setting that lets you add an icon at the beginning of the row to visually distinguish different types of information.

  1. How many rows can I add to a single block?

There is no set limit on the number of rows you can add. Each row is configured independently with its own title, icon, content type, and metafield link.

  1. What content types are supported for each row?

Seven content types are available: Product description, Metafield · Single Line Text, Metafield · Multiline text, Metafield · Rich text, Metafield · Image, Text, and Html.

  1. Can I reorder rows in the block?

Yes. Rows can be reordered within the block to control the sequence in which they appear on the PDP.
