Conditional Content Blocks on Product Pages
Last updated: August 6, 2025
Feature Overview
The Conditional Content Blocks feature lets you control which sections appear on your Product Detail Pages (PDPs) based on Shopify product tags. This allows you to deliver targeted, relevant content to shoppers depending on what they’re viewing — all without writing code.
Use it to:
Highlight special return policies
Show country-of-origin messaging
Display size guides only for apparel
Promote offers or bundles on select products
This feature gives you more flexibility to tailor the shopping experience and improve conversion.
Configuration
This feature uses Shopify product tags to decide when to show or hide specific blocks on a PDP.
How to Set It Up
Tag Your Products in Shopify
In your Shopify admin, go to a product and add the appropriate tags (e.g.,
final-sale,preorder,made-in-usa).Open the PDP Layout in Appbrew
Add or select the block you want to conditionally display (such as text, image, or promotional content).
Set Tag Rules
In the block settings, go to conditional settings and select 'Show as per Shopify tags' :
Use Include Tags to show the block only if the product has one or more of those tags.
Use Exclude Tags to hide the block if the product has any of those tags.
Save and Preview
The block will now automatically appear or disappear based on the tags set in Shopify.
Tag matching is case-insensitive.
Use Cases
Here are common ways marketers use this feature to personalize PDP content:
Return and Exchange Policies
Display "Final Sale – No Returns" only for products tagged with final-sale.
Country of Origin

Size Guides
Show a “Women’s Size Chart” for products tagged womens-apparel. Use different charts for different categories.
Product Add-ons and Customization
Display options like “Add Gift Wrap” or “Remove Cups” only for applicable products.
Sales and Promotions
Promote limited-time deals like “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” or “Extra 10% Off” by showing banners or messages tied to tags like bogo or extra10.
Product-Specific Information
Display ingredient lists, usage notes, or compliance information only for tagged products in categories like skincare or supplements.
Troubleshooting / FAQ
What are product tags, and where do I add them?
Product tags are labels added in Shopify. Go to any product in Shopify admin and scroll to the Tags section to add or edit them.
Can I use more than one tag?
Yes. You can add multiple tags to each product and configure block visibility using any combination of include and exclude tags.
How do I configure tag-based visibility in Appbrew?
Open the block settings in your PDP layout. Look for the section called “Show based on product tags,” then add your tags under Include or Exclude.
What happens if a product matches both include and exclude tags?
The block will be hidden. Exclude tags take priority over include tags.
Why isn’t my block showing on a product?
Check the following:
The product is missing the required tag in Shopify
There’s a typo in the tag
The product has an exclude tag
The block settings weren’t saved properly
If none of the above solve it, contact support, and we’ll help you troubleshoot.
Can I set this up without a developer?
Yes. Tag-based visibility is self-serve and can be configured directly in the Appbrew dashboard.
