Size Chart
Last updated: August 5, 2025
Feature Overview
The Size Chart feature helps customers select the right fit by displaying sizing information on the product page. A “Size guide” button appears near the size selector, opening a chart that can include images, tables, or web content. This improves shopper confidence and can help reduce returns.
Appbrew supports several methods for showing size charts, giving you the flexibility to choose what works best based on how your product data is managed.
Configuration
Below are the supported types of size chart implementations, along with how they work and how to set them up in Appbrew Studio:
1. Image-Based Size Chart (via Shopify Metafield)
What It Does
Displays the size chart as an image that opens in a pop-up modal when a customer clicks the "Size guide" button.
How It Works
You upload a chart image (such as PNG or JPG) to a Shopify product metafield.
The app fetches that image and displays it inside a modal on the product page.
How to Set It Up
In your Shopify admin, create or update a metafield with your chart image.
In Appbrew Studio, go to the Size Chart tab and select the metafield namespace and key.
Choose this display method and publish the changes.
Best For
Brands with existing chart images they want to reuse. This method is quick to set up and requires minimal formatting work.
Limitations
Images are not zoomable in the app at this time.
Only one chart per product — no dynamic switching.
2. Web-Based Size Chart (Using Tags or Shopify Pages)
What It Does
Opens a web page version of the size chart inside the app, often using a dedicated Shopify page.
How It Works
You create individual Shopify pages for your different charts (for example: men’s, women’s, kids’).
Each product is tagged to match the relevant chart (for example: tag = “mens” links to “mens-size-chart” page).
The app reads the tag and loads the corresponding page inside the PDP.
How to Set It Up
Create Shopify pages with your sizing content (can include text, images, or tables).
In Studio, configure tag-based rules that connect each product tag to the correct page.
Assign tags to products accordingly.
Best For
Merchants managing multiple size charts by category or product type, with existing website content they want to reuse in the app.
Limitations
Requires consistent naming between tags and page URLs.
Content must be mobile-friendly to display properly in the app.
3. Table-Based Size Chart with Unit Toggle (Centimeters/Inches)
What It Does
Displays a table-format size chart directly on the PDP. Shoppers can toggle between centimeters and inches.
How It Works
Size data is provided through a structured input (typically a Shopify metaobject or custom Studio form).
The app builds a responsive table and adds a unit toggle based on available data.
How to Set It Up
Input your measurement data in the supported format (one column per measurement type).
Enable the unit toggle (if using both cm and inches).
Style and preview the chart in the Studio dashboard.
Best For
Products where accurate measurements are key — such as apparel, footwear, and accessories — and where detailed data is already maintained.
Limitations
Does not support size ranges (e.g., “38–40 inches”).
Requires precise data formatting.
4. Third-Party Integration (e.g., Kiwi Sizing)
What It Does
Integrates directly with a supported Shopify sizing app (like Kiwi) to show the same charts in your mobile app.
How It Works
The sizing app is already connected to your Shopify store.
Appbrew integrates with it to mirror the same experience inside the app.
How to Set It Up
Make sure the third-party sizing app is installed and configured in your Shopify store.
Contact Appbrew to enable the integration.
Appbrew will assist with setup and compatibility testing.
Best For
Merchants already using sizing plugins on the web who want to maintain consistency across channels.
Limitations
Not all sizing apps are supported.
Integration may require a specific plan or manual activation by the Appbrew team.
Overview
A size chart in a mobile app helps users choose the right product size by displaying measurement details (e.g., chest, waist, foot length) in various units and regional standards (US, UK, EU). The goal is to improve fit accuracy, reduce returns, and enhance user confidence during purchase.
