App install widgets are dynamic elements that appear in the announcement bar of your website, prompting users to install or open your app. These widgets are browser-specific and can enhance user engagement by providing an easy way for visitors to access your mobile application.

The behavior of Appbrew's Widget and Prompts on Different Browsers

When the App is Not Installed

For Chrome and Non-Safari Browsers

You can leverage Appbrew's widget to display a download prompt directly on the website. If the app is not installed, the prompt's Call-to-Action (CTA) will redirect users to the App Store or Play Store to download the app.

For Safari

Two options are available for download prompts:

  1. Safari's Native Smart Banner: Add a meta tag to the theme.liquid file to enable this feature. Safari will display its native smart banner.

  2. Appbrew's Download Prompt: Enable the 'Enable in Safari' option in the widget settings to use Appbrew's download prompt. By default, this setting is disabled.

When the App is Installed

For Chrome and Non-Safari Browsers

Appbrew's widget can display an "Open in App" prompt directly on the website. If the app is installed, the prompt's CTA will open the app and navigate to the same product or collection page that the user was viewing on the website.

For Safari

Safari automatically displays an "Open in App" prompt when the app is installed. This prompt cannot be disabled and will navigate users to the same product or collection page they were viewing on the website.

If Appbrew's widget is also enabled, it will appear alongside Safari's native banner on the website.

Drawback of Safari's Native Banner

The text displayed on Safari's native "Open in App" prompt cannot be customized.
