Feature Overview

The Recently Viewed Products block helps customers easily return to items they’ve recently explored. It automatically tracks and displays a user’s product browsing history—appearing as a scrollable section on the product page, homepage, cart, or other key locations.

This feature boosts customer engagement and improves conversion by reminding shoppers of their prior interest. It’s fully automated and designed to work across all devices with minimal setup.

Configuration

App-Side Implementation

  • The system tracks product views locally (per user) and stores the data in the browser or device session.

  • Products are displayed in reverse chronological order—showing the most recently viewed first.

  • The block hides automatically if fewer than two products are available.

  • Placement options include:

    • Product Detail Page (PDP)

    • Homepage

    • Cart Page

    • Collection pages (if configured)

Studio Dashboard Setup (If Enabled)

If your store uses the Studio dashboard, you can configure this block directly:

Steps:

  1. Open Studio > Page Editor

  2. Select the page (e.g., Homepage, PDP, or Cart)

  3. Add the Recently Viewed Products block

  4. Customize:

    • Layout (grid or horizontal scroll)

    • Number of products to display

    • Heading text and font styles

    • Spacing, colors, and padding

  5. Click Save and Publish

  • The block only displays if two or more products have been viewed in the session.

2. Is customer data tracked or stored externally?

  • No. Recently viewed data is stored locally on the customer’s device and not synced to servers.

3. Can I preview this block with sample data?

4. Why do some products disappear from the list?

  • Older items are automatically removed as new products are viewed. Unpublished products are also filtered out.

5. Can I control which pages show this block?

  • Yes. In the Studio dashboard, you choose where the block is added (PDP, Homepage, Cart, etc.).
