Theme publish history

Last updated: June 1, 2026

Overview

Theme Publish History is a visibility and control feature in AppBrew Studio that gives merchants a clear record of all past theme publishes. Brands can view what was published and when, add notes to document changes, restore previous versions, and manage scheduled publishes — making it easier to track, audit, and roll back app changes with confidence.

What It Does

Theme Publish History gives brands full visibility and control over their app's publish lifecycle:

  • Timeline View — A table showing all past published themes, including publish dates and any notes added at the time of publishing

  • Change Notes — The ability to add a description or note when publishing a new configuration, so teams can document what changed and why

  • Restore / Rollback — The ability to create a new theme based on a specific past release, allowing merchants to revert to a previous state without manually undoing changes

  • Schedule Management — For scheduled publishes, merchants can reschedule or cancel the publish before it goes live

How to Set It Up

  1. Access Theme Publish History — There are two ways to access this:

    • Click the dropdown arrow next to the Publish button in the top navigation bar, then select Theme Publish History.

    • Alternatively, click on the More tab in the top navigation, select Manage Themes, and click on Publish History.

  2. View past publishes — A table of all previous published configurations is displayed, showing the publish date, status, and any notes associated with each entry.

  3. Restore a previous version — Click the three dots (⋯) icon next to a past live publish entry and select the restore option. This creates a new theme based on that release version, which you can then review and publish.

  4. Manage a scheduled publish — For any entry with a scheduled publish status, click the three dots (⋯) icon to either Reschedule the publish to a new date and time, or Cancel the scheduled publish entirely.

Common Use Cases

Product & Design Teams

  • Post-Launch Rollback — If a newly published theme causes unexpected issues in the app, teams can quickly restore a previous working version without needing to manually rebuild or undo changes.

  • Change Documentation — Add notes at the time of publishing to log what was changed in each release, creating a lightweight audit trail that keeps the whole team aligned.

Marketing & Campaign Teams

  • Scheduled Publish Management — Schedule a campaign-specific theme in advance and reschedule or cancel it if campaign timelines shift, without disrupting the live app experience.

  • Seasonal Theme Control — Publish seasonal themes with confidence, knowing that a stable version can be restored quickly if the new theme needs to be reverted after going live.

FAQs

  1. Where do I find Theme Publish History?

Click the dropdown arrow next to the Publish button in the top navigation bar in AppBrew Studio, then select Theme Publish History.

  1. What information does the publish history table show?

The table displays all past published app configurations, including the publish date, status, and any change notes that were added at the time of publishing.

  1. Can I add notes when publishing a theme?

Yes. When publishing a theme, you can add a description or note to document what was changed. These notes are visible in the publish history table for future reference.

  1. How do I restore a previous version?

Click the three dots (⋯) icon next to the past publish entry you want to restore. This creates a new theme based on that release version, which you can review and publish when ready.

  1. Does restoring a version immediately go live?

No. Restoring a version creates a new theme based on that release — it does not automatically publish it. You can review the restored theme before choosing to publish it.

  1. Can I cancel a scheduled publish?

Yes. For any scheduled publish entry, click the three dots (⋯) icon and select Cancel to remove the scheduled publish, or Reschedule to change the publish date and time.
