With Searchtap, shoppers can search for products, browse collections, and apply helpful filters — all in real-time. It also supports different currencies and locations, allowing you to tailor the experience for international customers.

Configuration

You can set up and manage Searchtap directly from the Studio dashboard — no technical experience is needed.

How to configure Searchtap:

  1. Go to the Integrations section in your Studio dashboard.

  2. Add the Searchtap integration to your app.

  3. Enter the following details:

    • Base URL: Provided by Searchtap to connect your app.

    • Bearer Token: A secure access code from Searchtap.

    • Default Options: These control how search and filters behave. You can use the recommended defaults.

    • Search Suggestions & Trending Searches Settings: These decide what appears when a customer starts typing in the search bar.

    • Collection Suggestions (optional): Allows showing specific product collections in search suggestions.

Once saved, your app will immediately start using Searchtap to power search and product discovery.

Use Cases

Here’s how merchants commonly use Searchtap in their apps:

1. Fast, Real-Time Search

Customers see results and suggestions as they type — no need to press enter or wait for a new screen to load.

2. Smart Product Suggestions

Show shoppers what they might be looking for before they finish typing — including:

  • Matching products

  • Relevant collections

  • Popular search terms

  • Recently searched items

3. Helpful Filters

Let customers narrow down products by:

  • Price range (e.g., under $50)

  • Size, brand, or type

  • Discount levels or availability

  • Tags or product-specific attributes

4. Collection-Based Search

Collections (like “Skincare” or “New Arrivals”) can have tailored sorting and filters — giving customers more control and clarity while browsing.

5. Trending Searches

Show trending or seasonal searches to guide customer interest (e.g., “Diwali Gifts” or “Summer Sale”).

6. Multi-Country & Currency Support

Searchtap can adjust the catalog and pricing based on where the customer is shopping from — helping you reach a global audience without confusion.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

Q: I’ve set up Searchtap, but filters aren’t showing in my collection pages. Why?

A: Some collection layouts may not yet support filter displays, or the filter configuration might be missing from your Searchtap setup. Please check your dashboard settings or contact support for review.

Q: Why does the product list in the app look different from the website?

A: If your website uses Searchtap for sorting and merchandising, but the app only uses it for search, differences may occur. Full feature matching requires Searchtap to power both search and collections in the app.

Q: My inventory is correct on the product page but wrong in search results. Why?

A: Your app may be showing inventory from Searchtap’s side, which may not be fully synced with Shopify. Reach out to your support contact to ensure proper syncing between systems.

Q: Can I show both product and collection suggestions in search?

A: Yes. Make sure you’ve enabled “Search V2” in your dashboard and configured both product and collection settings under suggestions.

Q: I need to switch from Searchtap to Shopify search. Is that possible?

A: Yes, but removing Searchtap would mean that filtering and sorting would be handled by Shopify instead. Reach out to your team to plan this transition carefully.

Q: Do I need to update the app to enable Searchtap features like Trending Searches?

A: In some cases, yes. Features like Search V2 or new suggestion formats may require an app update. Your team will notify you if an update is needed.

Q: Where can I get the setup details like Bearer Token and Base URL?

A: These are provided by the Searchtap team. If you haven’t received them, please contact your account manager or Searchtap support.

Q: Which brands have it live in their app?

A: Little Box, Mcaffeine, Libas, Fablestreet, Suta, Sugar Cosmetics, The Face Shop, Aachho, Salty, Distacart, Innovist, and many others.
