Our platform uses an automatic discount system to add freebies to customer carts based on certain conditions. However, this system has some limitations:
The freebie is automatically re-added at checkout even if removed from the cart.
The automatic freebie discount cannot be made optional in the current setup.
We are working on improving this flow. In the future:
After a freebie is removed, a message will be displayed in the cart indicating eligibility.
The freebie will not be automatically re-added at checkout.
When using both freebie discounts and order discounts (e.g., coupon codes), you may encounter conflicts:
By default, Shopify applies only the best discount, not both.
This can lead to customers removing the freebie in favor of a coupon code.
To allow customers to benefit from both the freebie and order discounts:
Go to your discount settings in Shopify.
Adjust the settings to allow the freebie discount to be combined with product/order discounts.
This will enable customers to receive both the freebie and any additional discounts simultaneously.
By implementing these changes, you can encourage customers to keep the freebie in their cart while also applying coupon codes, potentially increasing overall order value.
